Quick answer
If you want a versatile accessory you can wear or attach to bags and lanyards, go with the Somerset Patriots NY Black Yankees Primary Medallion Pin. If you prefer a bold, permanent display on your vehicle, the NY Black Yankees Car Magnet is the better pick.
Display style and portability
The pin and magnet both let you show Patriots pride, but they serve different display needs. The medallion pin is compact and portable—you can wear it on a hat, jacket, or lanyard, or pin it to a bag. The car magnet is designed for a single, semi-permanent spot on your vehicle's metal panel. If you like switching up where you show your fandom, the pin gives you more flexibility.
Durability and care
Neither product comes with detailed care instructions in the catalog, so you'll want to handle both with common sense. The pin's metal finish can scratch if rubbed against hard surfaces; the magnet's printed surface may fade with prolonged sun exposure. For the magnet, avoid car washes with brushes and remove it before extreme heat to preserve the graphic. The pin is easier to keep safe by storing it in a pouch or drawer when not in use.
Pin vs Magnet: Trade-offs at a glance
- Display flexibility: The pin can be moved between hats, bags, lanyards, and clothing. The magnet is designed for a single vehicle panel and isn't meant to be moved frequently.
- Durability concerns: The pin's finish can scratch; the magnet's printed graphic may fade in sun. Neither has manufacturer care instructions, so gentle handling is key. Store the pin in a pouch when not in use; remove the magnet before car washes with brushes.
- Price and value: The pin is priced at USD 5.70 (was USD 9.50) and the magnet at USD 6.56 (was USD 9.50). Both offer a discount from the comparison price, making them affordable entry-level collectibles.
